Unsightly, wide, uneven or red scars can usually be significantly improved by surgery and in some cases by laser. Rarely keloids may develop.
Keloids are thick, raised, painful scars. They are treated by a variety of methods. Steroid injections into the keloid result in rapid relief of symptoms and flattening of the keloid.
A keloid may also be surgically excised followed by steroid injection into the new scar to minimise recurrence
