Liposuction

Normal subcutaneous fat is distributed under the skin in a manner that gives the man and the woman their typical body shapes. The amount of fat depends basically on how much we eat. Lipodystrophy is a disorder where in some areas of the body excessive fat appears that distorts the appearance of the body shape.

It usually occurs in women, it is located on the lateral side of the thighs, it runs in the family and is unfortunately reluctant to body mass changes, which means that despite diet it does not usually go away.

Liposuction is usually a day procedure. Sometimes patients may need to spend a night in hospital. Liposuction is generally performed under general anaesthesia but in patients with less fat to be removed, it could be performed under local anaesthetic with sedation.

After the procedure, there will be pain, swelling and bruising.

You may return to work within a few days and it will take a few weeks to resume normal activities and exercise.
